Hey y'all! Ok, so I figured that the best 2nd post for the blog would the one that explained a little bit of my fairytale love story.
It was the summer of 2009 when I met my husband. My cousin Carrie wanted to play match maker and well, I'd say she pretty much nailed it. I was born and raised in Itty Bitty Plant
City, Florida. In a tiny little town called, Turkey Creek!
Phil was born and raised in Centreville, Virginia. There's nothing small about his town. The area he's from is also known as Northern Virginia/DC area. They have the worst traffic and the rudest darn people! I think he feels the same way because when he finally finished college and moved out, he headed straight for the mountains. He was done with the city!
Anyways, back to how we met. It was August 2009 when Phil decided it was time to buy a home. My cousin Carrie had a table that she offered to sell him since he didn't have anything. He went to her house to pick up the table and she said something about him was different. The way he laughed and carried on with her and her family, she even told him that he belonged in our family. I am pretty sure he thought Carrie was crazy. She called me and told me all about him. He sounded very interesting but I was determined to NEVER leave my home sweet home in Florida!
Although this was just a “time passer” Phil and I connected via email and then we started to talk on the phone. He was extremely fascinating. Everything I was looking for in a man. Time went on and conversation and feelings progressed.
Before I left I remember my Daddy saying, “Now you ain’t movin’ up there unless he’s the one.”
Fast forward to October 2009. He bought me a plane ticket so we could finally meet each-other in person. I flew up with the best of intentions but still thinking it was all crazy.
Y’all! I’m here to tell ya that love at first sight really does exist and kissing on a first date really happens too.
I knew I belonged when he asked me to meet his parents before I left that weekend. Would y’all even believe it if I told you that on the first time ever meeting his parents I spilled French onion soup on their couch?! Gahhh talk about embarrassing!
And with that I went back home to Florida with a changed heart and ready to get back to Virginia! The hardest part was calling my Daddy to tell him that yes, he was the one and that I was gonna be moving to Virginia. What I felt was real and it absolutely had to be for me to pack up and leave my life and my family. November 2009 I made my big move to Virginia. And yes, I cried the whole darn way up!
February 2011 he proposed to me in the glistening fresh fallen night snow and on a beautiful spring day in June 2011 he became my Mr. and I stole his last name!

Welcome to Benders on York!
Hey y'all welcome to my blog!
I thought for a long time about starting a family blog but just couldn't quite think of a good name for it. My sweetheart of a brother who happens to be my childhood best friend, came up with this name and that is where "Benders on York" was born.
I am your typical Southern Belle who lives Faith, Family, Friends and Florida Gators! I try my hardest to live the life of a Proverbs 31 woman. I am married to my soulmate. He's everything I didn't even know I needed.
This blog is going to be a complete journey of our lives. From our Faith, Family and Friends to him and I meeting for the 1st time, becoming Mr. and Mrs., going through infertility treatments and prayerfully to finally being called Mama and Daddy!
So grab your mason jar filled with sweet tea and sit a spell. This is the life of the Benders on York!
